Dinajpur Bus Accident Two killed, 12 injured in Dinajpur bus accident
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, February 12: Two people were killed and at least 12 others were injured as a passenger bus coming from Dhaka fell into a ditch at Chirirbandar in Dinajpur.
The accident took place on the east side of Mohanpur Bridge in the upazila on Saturday morning. The identities of the dead were not immediately available. Seven of the injured have been admitted to Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital.
According to police and local sources, a Hanif Paribahan bus from Dhaka to Dinajpur rammed into the girder on the east side of Mohanpur Bridge and fell into a ditch in the morning. When the locals informed, the police and fire service personnel rushed to the scene and with the help of the locals recovered the bodies of two persons including a woman from the bus.
Chirirbandar Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Bazlur Rashid confirmed the matter after rescuing about 12 injured passengers and admitting seven of them to Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital.
The official said driver of the bus was believed to be asleep when the accident occurred.
