According to the sources of Transport Department of Pakshi Divisional Railway, shunting of freight trains was going on from Ishwardi rail yard on Tuesday (March 26) around 12:00 pm. Meanwhile, another oil train (empty) from Ishwardi railway yard mistakenly thought it was Pashan order (thinking the line was cleared) headed towards Khulna. Two freight trains collided. In the collision of two trains, four wheels of a wagon of a freight train and six wheels of a locomotive engine of an oil train were derailed.

Pakshi Divisional Commercial Officer Nasir Uddin said that an oil-carrying train stopped at Ishwardi Junction station on its way to Khulna after unloading oil at Parbatipur. At the time of the incident, a freight train carrying stones from India to Dhaka halted at the same station. At that time, the stone-laden train collided with the oil train while shunting (taking carriages from one line to another line). Then the engine of the oil train and a carriage of the freight train derailed. Immediately after the incident, rescuers started working to rescue the relief train coach. He said that by five o'clock in the morning the train movement can be normal after the rescue work is over.
