Dhaka, September 16: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been welcomed in London by the leaders and activists of the United Kingdom (UK) branch of Bangladesh Awami League. They visited the Prime Minister's current residence in London and greeted her with bouquets of flowers.

Prime Minister Hasina arrived in London on Thursday (September 15) afternoon local time. The Prime Minister was welcomed at the airport by the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to the United Kingdom, Sayeda Muna Tasnim.

Later, when the Prime Minister arrived at Claridge's Hotel in London, UK Awami League leaders led by its President Sultan Mahmud Sharif and General Secretary Syed Sajidur Rahman Farooq greeted her.

United Kingdom Awami League Advisory Council Chairman Alhaj Shamsuddin Khan, Senior Vice President Alhaj Jalal Uddin, Vice President Professor Abul Hashem, Vice President Hormuz Ali, Joint Secretary Naeem Uddin Siraj, Maruf Ahmed Chowdhury and Organizing Secretary Abdul Ahad Chowdhury were present among others. etc.

Earlier on Thursday at 10:40 AM, the Prime Minister and her entourage left the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on a VVIP flight of Bangladesh Biman.

Sheikh Hasina is now on an official visit to the United Kingdom and the United States to attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II and the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), respectively. As per the tour schedule, Commonwealth Secretary General Patricia Scotland will pay a courtesy call on the Prime Minister at her hotel on the second day of the visit, Friday (September 16).

On this day, the Minister for South Asia, North Africa, United Nations and Commonwealth Affairs at the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) Lord Ahmed will meet the Prime Minister there.

Sir Keir Starmer, Leader of the UK Opposition and Labour Party, will pay a courtesy call on the Prime Minister tomorrow, September 17. The Prime Minister will attend a reception hosted by Britain's King Charles III in honor of heads of state and government at Buckingham Palace on September 18.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey on September 19.
