UNESCO: Book on Bangabandhu's historic speech on March 7 in all official languages unveiled

Dhaka, March 7, 2021: The Bangladesh Embassy in Paris and the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to UNESCO have published a book containing the historic March 7th speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in six official languages of the United Nations.

The cover of the book titled 'Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's Historic March 7 Speech: World Heritage Documents' was unveiled at the UNESCO headquarters on Friday. Twelve English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Russian and Chinese speaking ambassadors and permanent representatives to UNESCO jointly unveiled the book. This has been informed in a press release received in Dhaka on Saturday.

It is to be noted that this historic speech of Bangabandhu was included in the UNESCO's 'Memory of the World' register in 2016 as a World Heritage Site. This is the first time that Bangabandhu's historic speech on March 7 has been translated into all official languages ​​of the United Nations. Considering the cowardly situation at the UNESCO headquarters, the book was unveiled only in the presence of invited guests and the event was broadcast live on the embassy's social media.

The published book contains special speeches of the President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Education Minister of Bangladesh. At the beginning of his welcome address, Kazi Imtiaz, Ambassador of Bangladesh to France and Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to UNESCO paid homage to the memory of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

At that time, he said, the historic speech of March 7 was basically a declaration of independence of Bangladesh. This speech has served as the main inspiration in the long nine-month liberation struggle. He also thanked the Ambassadors and Permanent Representatives of all the countries who participated in the unveiling of the book. He thanked all concerned for translating and publishing Bangabandhu's historic March 7 speech.
