Dhaka, December 15: US Ambassador Peter D Haas visited the residence of Sajedul Islam Sumon, a Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP leader who has gone missing since 2013.

On Wednesday (December 14) at 9:05 am, he went to the house of the missing leader in Shaheen Bagh of the capital. He stayed there for about 25 minutes. However, he did not speak to the reporters. Sumon's family has not said anything.

Lika Johnson, officer of Bangladesh desk of the US State Department, was also present with the US ambassador.

Meanwhile, the members of the 'Mayer Kanna' organization have asked US ambassador Peter Haas to accuse the military government of President Ziaur Rahman of human rights violations. On Wednesday (December 14) morning, the members of the organization gave the memorandum while Peter Haas met a family in Shaheen Bagh of the capital.

The organizers of 'Mayer Kanna' said that during Ziaur Rahman's regime, thousands of Air Force personnel were disappeared in the name of suppressing the rebellion of October 2, 1977. This organization has been formed with the family members affected in that incident.

Eyewitnesses said that this morning, the children of the Air Force members who were sentenced to death and the dismissed members gathered in front of the house on the news that the US ambassador had gone to meet a family in Shaheen Bagh of the capital. When the US ambassador was leaving after the meeting, the members of the 'Mayer Kanna' organization accused him of human rights violations against Ziaur Rahman's military government.

They also said that they have asked the US ambassador for an international investigation into the disappearance of 45 years ago. At the same time, he sought the cooperation of the US government against human rights violations during the military regime. The organization claimed that the details of the disappearance will be presented to the US ambassador later.
