Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 28 October 2023: BNP's general assembly was marred by the operation of law and order forces. Law and order forces raided the assembly area around 2:30 pm. The leaders and workers of BNP were scattered. Then around 3 o'clock in Bijoynagar, a clash started between Awami League and BNP leaders and activists.

BNP started a mass meeting in front of the party's central office in Nayapaltan on Saturday at 12:40 pm with a one-point demand for the fall of the government. BNP leaders and activists clashed with the police at Kakrail intersection around 1:30 p.m. that day. The entire area turned into a battlefield.

Dhaka Metropolitan North and South BNP jointly organized this rally.

Earlier, DMP Additional Commissioner of Police (DB) Mohammad Haroon Or Rasheed alleged that BNP was attacking the police after taking permission for a peaceful assembly.

The DB chief made this complaint while talking to reporters in front of the Chief Justice's residence in Kakrail of the capital on Saturday. He said that the gatherings are supposed to be held systematically, they have taken permission from the DMP commissioner under such conditions. But suddenly the BNP leaders and activists threw bricks and stones at the police. Then we remove them. Later they set fire to the IDEB building, vandalized the Chief Justice's building. We removed them from there too.

Mohammad Harun Or Rashid said, the fire in the government building and the fire in the bus will be investigated and legal action will be taken against those who caused this incident.

Meanwhile, the police and BNP leaders and activists took a stand in Paltan of the capital. BNP workers vandalized a few cars by setting tires on fire near the Vijayanagar water tank. Police fired tearshells and sound grenades to disperse them. Picture seen in Paltan-Vijaynagar area after 2pm on Saturday.

Apart from this, BNP-Police clashes have occurred in Kakrail. The entire area became a battlefield in the conflict. Several places were set on fire. Fire service is working to control the fire in front of Kakrail audit building.
