Dhaka, September 4: Awami League advisory council member and former minister Tofail Ahmed was airlifted to the Indian capital Delhi on Friday for treatment. His personal assistant Abul Khair said this. At that time, he said, senior leader Tofail Ahmed is in good physical condition.

Earlier, Tofail Ahmed was admitted to Dhaka's Square Hospital on August 30 after suffering a stroke. Khair said the leader was being taken to a Delhi hospital for advanced treatment after undergoing some tests at Square Hospital. He said Tofail Ahmed had earlier been given a heart ring at the Delhi hospital. The veteran politician had some problems with cardiology and neurology.

Meanwhile, Press Minister Shaban Mahmood, who is posted at the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi, said on his Facebook status that the physical condition of the beloved leader Tofail Ahmed is stable. He is undergoing treatment at Medenta Hospital in Gurgaon, Haryana, near Delhi, under the head of the Department of Neuro Medicine, Dr. Arun Garg. At noon, Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Muhammad Imran met with the former minister and said his condition is statble, while urging everyone to pray for the patient.

Former VP of DUCSU, Tofail Ahmed is the hero of the mass uprising of '69. He served as the Political Secretary to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. In the war of liberation, he was one of the four Mujib Bahini chiefs in charge of the region.

He is currently a member of the advisory council of Bangladesh Awami League. He announced the conferment of the title of 'Bangabandhu' on Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on 23 February 1969. Tofail Ahmed, 77, is a five-time elected member of parliament. He was elected from Bhola-1 constituency in the last Eleventh Parliamentary Election.
