Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 14 November 2023: Security has been beefed up at the Election Commission (EC) and its surrounding areas. Apart from this, the personal hearing for NID amendment has been closed in the Election Commission building. Meanwhile, police security has been strengthened since Tuesday morning.

Earlier, Election Commission (EC) Secretariat Secretary Md. Jahangir Alam said that the commission said that the schedule will be announced in the first half of November.

It can be seen on the ground, police security has been increased in four teams in front of the Election Commission. which was not there before. Besides, even if entering the election commission building, they have to face police questioning in front of the gate. Besides, the police patrol has also been increased. After a while, the police car is patrolling in front of the Election Commission.

According to EC sources, the Election Commission (EC) will hold a meeting on Wednesday afternoon to announce the schedule for the 12th parliamentary elections. The meeting will be held at 5 pm. After that Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal will announce the schedule by addressing the nation.

EC Secretary Md. Jahangir Alam said in response to a question from journalists at the Election Commission building on Monday that the schedule of the 12th National Parliament election may be announced by next Wednesday. He said that the schedule will be announced in the first half of November as it was already said by the EC.

The Chief Election Commissioner met President Md Sahabuddin at Bangabhaban on November 9 and took permission to announce the election schedule. CEC Kazi Habibul Awal said while talking to the journalists after the meeting, we are determined to hold the election on time. The schedule of parliamentary elections will be announced soon. Besides, the CEC also met the Chief Justice on the schedule issue.

Meanwhile, the opposition parties have been opposing the announcement of the schedule. On behalf of BNP, the joint secretary general of the party Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon demanded the resignation of the Election Commission without announcing the schedule of the 12th National Assembly elections. He said, don't announce the schedule, the nation will curse you if you do. As a result, the constitution will be violated and injustice will also be done.
