Dhaka, Oct 16: Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen said, "We don't go to foreigners, foreigners come to us. Look, how many people from America are coming to us."

He said this while talking to journalists at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday.

The Foreign Minister said, "We do not go to foreigners, foreigners come to us. They (foreigners) come, they (foreigners) request. See how many people from America are coming to us. We don't go to them. They visited our mission. We don't go, we don't go to their house. They came to our office."

In addition to meaningful dialogue to ensure participatory elections in Bangladesh, the US pre-election observation team has made five recommendations to the country's government, political parties, and election commission. The foreign minister was asked to know the position of the government in this regard.

In response, Momen said, "They have given their statement -- 'This is Welcome'. We are always in dialogue with different parties. We have no objection to that. Let them also dialogue, if they want. We have created an independent commission they said. So we have no objection to it. He said, we want everyone to vote, everyone to participate. This is nothing new. They gave a form, good. Opinion, we don't think it is very important. You don't need to fuss about it."

Observers have no role in the US election system. Still, the minister mentioned that it is sad when the people of the country come and talk about observing the elections in Bangladesh.

He said that there is no election monitoring in most countries of the world. But those countries are doing well. No observations in America. And if American people come and talk about election monitoring, it's sad. There was no election monitoring in their country.

Regarding foreigners talking about Bangladesh elections, Momen said that people from different countries are coming and meeting for bilateral discussions. In that gap, some talk about the election. And this is your hot topic. They have so much fun, Bangladeshi media cares about them. That's why they enjoy it.
