Own Correspondent, Dhaka, March 30: Medical technologist Md. Moinul Islam used to live with his wife Tania Afroz and two children in Battala area of Dakshingaon of Sabujbagh.

A few days ago, he was transferred from Mugda Medical to Faridpur Medical College. Rifat Alam Bappi (31), a mechanic who installed AC in their house, knew about the transfer.

Taking advantage of her husband's absence, Bappi planned to rob Tania's house along with two others. They killed Tania Afroz (26) last Saturday (March 26) for resisting and shouting during their robbery bid at her home.

Motijheel Division Deputy Commissioner of Police (DC) Md. A. Ahad said this at a press conference held at Paltan Model Police Station on Tuesday (March 29) evening.

He said all three involved in the incident have been arrested. The arrested are- Rifat Alam Bappi, his two accomplices Hridoy and Rubel. A pair of looted earrings and two gold chains were recovered from them.

DC A. Ahad said that around 3.40 pm on Saturday, Bappi went to Moinul's house for AC servicing. Bappi had installed AC in their house a year ago.

At first Bappi and Hridoy entered the house and serviced the AC for about half an hour. Shortly afterwards, Rubel entered the place. At that time Tania wanted to know the identity of Rubel. Bappi said Rubel was their companion. Then Tania went to cook with her 10 month old son Tanvirul.

After a while, Tania entered the room and started shouting after noticing the robbery bid by the trio. At that moment, Rubel and Hridoy smothered Tania with a pillow, and Bappi stabbed her multiple times with a knife. The three then snatched the mobile phones and gold ornaments from the house and fled.
