Diplomacy You have to be vigilant in protecting patriotism and interests: Prime Minister to diplomats
Own representative, Dhaka, December 21: Diplomats should always keep a watchful eye on keeping patriotism deep in their hearts and safeguarding the interests of the country. This was stated by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the awarding of 'Bangabandhu Diplomatic Excellence Medal' for the first time on Monday (December 20). She joined the program of Bangladesh Foreign Service Academy through video conference from Gonobhaban.
Sheikh Hasina said that economic diplomacy is a big part of our diplomacy at present. "Moreover, attracting investment, expanding the market for Bangladeshi products abroad and employing skilled manpower is also very important. Our diplomats are showing great skill in matters of bilateral and multilateral interests. They are working prudently to enhance the image of Bangladesh in the bilateral, regional and international arenas as well as in the areas of MDGs, SDGs, migration, climate change etc."
The Prime Minister said, in order to be a good diplomat, patriotism must be deeply rooted in the heart. At the same time, in the changing world-political context, we must always be vigilant about safeguarding our interests.
She said the establishment of peace and regional cooperation among the South Asian countries was initiated under the visionary leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. His philosophy and achievements in establishing world peace and solidarity are working as a source of inspiration for all the diplomats and peace loving people of the world irrespective of time and place beyond the diplomatic arena of Bangladesh. Which is also working as the main regulator to enhance the image of Bangladesh in the world.
Sheikh Hasina said, "We are pursuing our diplomatic activities following the example of the father of the nation, We are working tirelessly to strengthen friendly relations on an equal footing with all the peace-loving nations of the world, without leaning towards any particular country or alliance."
