Dhaka, 21 August 2022 : Two policemen have been temporarily suspended for dereliction of duty in the death of an accused named Sumon Sheikh at Hatirjheel police station.
At the same time, Tejgaon Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police has formed a three-member committee to investigate the incident. Deputy Police Commissioner of Tejgaon Division Azimul Haque told reporters this information on Saturday (August 20) night.

After analyzing the information given by these three people and the CCTV footage of the office, it was found that Suman Sheikh was associated with this theft. He was arrested on Friday afternoon. He also said that after the arrest of Suman Sheikh, 3 lakh 13 thousand 700 taka was seized by raiding his house at night.
Describing the suicide of Suman Sheikh, DC Tejgaon said that after the raid, Suman Sheikh was kept at Hatirjheel police station at night. He was supposed to appear in court on Saturday morning on remand. But at 3.32 pm on Friday, Suman strangled her with the trousers she was wearing. Which was seen in the CCTV footage. This footage was also shown to the deceased's wife and relatives.
Meanwhile, the relatives of Suman Sheikh (25) protested in front of the Hatirjheel police station on Saturday afternoon. About the death of Suman Sheikh, his relative said. Sohail Ahmed said, the police arrested Suman Sheikh in a theft case on Friday afternoon. Suman lives with his family in Rampura. On Saturday we learned that he died inside the police station. Our question is, how did a man commit suicide in police custody, what was the police doing then?
