Dhaka, May 31: On the occasion of the golden jubilee of independence and the birth centenary of Bangabandhu, the Bangladesh Chhatra Odhikar Parishad called for a movement against the visit of the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. At that time, 54 leaders and activists of various student organizations, including student rights were arrested from the protest program. Leaders and activists of the Student Rights and Youth Rights Council, including former VP of Dhaka University Central Students' Union Nurul Haque Nur, filed a memorandum in the Supreme Court on Monday (May 31st) demanding their release.

Expressing solidarity with them, the founder and trustee of the public health center Dr. Zafrullah Chowdhury and the coordinator of the mass solidarity movement Jonaid Saki went there. However, the police did not allow them to enter the Supreme Court.

Former VP of DUCSU Nurul Haque Nur said they reached the main gate of the Supreme Court around 1:15 pm. Police prevented them from entering with the memorandum. At one stage the gate was closed. Later, leaders and activists, including Zafrullah Chowdhury, Jonaid Saki and Noor stood at the gate. After staying there for about an hour, they were not allowed to enter until the last news was received.

It is learned that the police filed a case against those arrested during the anti-Modi protest rally at the Shahbagh police station in the capital on charges of vandalism, arson and obstruction of government work.
