Own Correspondent, Dhaka, Sept 2: Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque reminisced about his educational career and said, "Once I was admitted to medical school, but I could not become a doctor. There was that regret for a long time, but now it's gone. Because, although I could not become a doctor, now I have become the Health Minister, the minister of doctors."

He said these in an exchange meeting with doctors and teachers at Comilla Medical College Hospital on Thursday (September 1).

The minister said, "I have many memories in Comilla Medical. My father was serving in the army at Comilla Cantonment. I also got admission in medical here, I have few memories."

Zahid Maleque said, "Students have many complaints now. At the time of Corona, when we decided to take the medical college exam, I received at least 10,000 abuses on my mobile phone from the students. I said I will do it. Even I did that, the benefits of which are now reaping."

The minister said that students at every level including schools and colleges have got auto-pass, but there is no auto-pass in medical. There will be no auto-pass when I am here. We deal with people's lives, not brick-sand-cement.

Regarding the appointment of doctors and nurses, he further said that three years ago our government doctors were 15,000, and now that number has reached 34,000. Where it has become 10,000 in the last year. Our total number of nurses was 18,000, now there are 46,000 nurses. This has also happened in the last three years. What else can people do in this short time?
