Dhaka, February 9: The court has framed charges against cricketer Nasir Hossain and his wife Tamima Sultana Tammi in a case filed against them for extramarital affair. As a result, the formal trial of the case has started. However, Tamima's mother Sumi Akhter has been released from the case. On Wednesday (February 9), Dhaka Additional Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain framed charges against them.

The case was scheduled to be heard on January 24 in the court of Dhaka Additional Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain. On that day, Nasir-Tamima's lawyer applied for their release from the case. Defendant's lawyer, on the other hand, held a hearing to frame charges against them. Following the hearing of both the parties, the judge fixed February 9 for the order.

Earlier, on October 31 last year, the accused in the case surrendered before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim and applied for bail. Following the hearing, the judge granted them bail on a bond of Tk 10,000. He then ordered the transfer as the case was ready for trial. On September 30, the police submitted a report to the Bureau of Investigation. Following the report, the judge fixed October 31 for their appearance in court.

The court directed the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to probe the case filed against cricketers Nasir Hossain and Tamima Sultana Tammi on February 24, 2021 for marrying someone else's wife without obtaining a divorce from Tamima's husband. Tamima's ex-husband Rakib Hasan filed the case in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim.

The case alleges that Tamima tied the knot with Nasir while her marriage with the plaintiff was ongoing. Nasir called the plaintiff and informed him that he was aware of the whole matter and had Tamima with him. Marrying Tamimar Nasir while the marriage relationship with the plaintiff is ongoing is completely illegal under religious and state law. Due to such immoral and illegal relationship of the accused, the plaintiff and his infant daughter have been severely traumatized.
