Housewife raped on polling night in 2018: 10 sentenced to death, six get life sentences
Dhaka, Feb 6: On December 30, 2018, the court sentenced 10 accused to death in the case of gang-rape of a housewife (40) in Noakhali's Subarnachar, on the night of the 11th National Parliament elections. At the same time, each accused has been fined Tk 50,000. Apart from this, six other accused have been sentenced to life imprisonment and fined Tk 50,000. Imprisonment of two more years has been awarded in default.
500 affected Hindu devotees receive aid from Prime Minister Hasina in Noakhali
Dhaka, October 23: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sent gifts to 500 Hindu devotees who were injured in an attack on a puja marquee and a temple at Chaumuhani in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md Khorshed Alam Khan distributed the gifts on Thursday night (October 21).

New bill in Parliament to manage Gandhi Ashram in Noakhali
Dhaka, July 3: A bill has been raised in Parliament to repeal the old law governing the Gandhi Ashram in Noakhali. According to the new bill, the Gandhi Trust will be governed by a board. It will be a statutory body. Acquisition and transfer of immovable and movable property of the Ashram will be with the Board. The proposed law says the government will nominate the chairman and six trustees of the board.

He said such atrocities could not be normal. Huq said it is a horrible and ugly thing to upload videos on the internet, especially after undressing and said the government is determined to ensure further investigation and justice.
