Subarnachar residents counting on 'Mujib Killas' during calamity

Dhaka, May 24: Two Mujib Killas have been built in the coastal region of Noakhali to save the lives of the disaster-stricken people, their families and livestock and the safe storage of valuables. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the two forts at 11 am on Sunday (May 23). Locals have expressed joy around the inauguration.

according to the office of the Local Project Implementation Officer under the Ministry of Disaster Management, the Mujib Killas will alleviate the worries of the people in the coastal areas during floods, cyclones and other disasters. In this, the country is taking another step forward in the progress of development and prosperity. 

It is learned that through video conference, the Prime Minister inaugurated two Mujib Killas constructed at a cost of Tk 2 crore 25 lakh 81 thousand 17 in Char Darbeshpur village of Aman Ulya Union of Subarnachar and Tk 1 crore 69 lakh 30 thousand 125 in Char Kazi Mokles village of Char Wapada Union.

These forts have an area of ​​8,000 square meters after completion of construction and implementation of construction projects. About 500 feet above the common agricultural land, the old earthen fort will be built on the first floor and roof of the building will be able to take shelter of 500 families together. There are 558 sq m sheds for cattle. There is a drinking water system with bathroom facilities.

Besides, the building has electricity and solar system facilities. It can be used as a playground and markets for conducting educational activities in these forts at normal times.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday (May 23) on the occasion of Mujib's year, the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief has virtually added 110 multi-purpose cyclone shelters, 30 flood shelters, 30 district relief and warehouses or disaster management information centers, inaugurated five Mujib forts and laid the foundation stone of 50 Mujib forts.
