Cyclone 'Hamoon' weakens into deep depression after hitting coast

Dhaka, Oct 25: Cyclone 'Hamoon' located in North-East Bay of Bengal and its surrounding areas has moved further north-east and crossed the coast around 1 am on Tuesday. It has weakened and is positioned as a deep depression over the Satkania and Chittagong regions. It may gradually weaken as it moves further inland and sheds rain.

The Department of Meteorology announced this information in a special weather bulletin on Wednesday, October 25 at around 1:15 am. In the notification, Chittagong and Cox's Bazar seaports have been asked to lower the danger signal number 7 and show the local warning signal number 3 instead. Mongla and Payra seaports have been asked to lower distress signal number 5 and display local warning signal number 3 instead.

All fishing boats and trawlers in North Bay of Bengal have been asked to remain in safe harbor until further notice.

Meanwhile, the weather forecast for the next 24 hours from 6 pm on Tuesday said that in most places of Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions; Some places of Dhaka, Mymensingh and Khulna divisions and two places of Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions may experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers with gusty winds temporarily. Along with this, moderate to very heavy rainfall may occur in some places in Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions.
