Dhaka, January 9: The Standard Chartered Bank Channel I Agro Award 2020 has been given to 10 individuals and organisations for their unique contributions in the field of agriculture. The awards were presented at the 'Agro Awards 2020' ceremony at Hotel Sonargaon in the capital on Friday (January 8) evening.

Channel I and Standard Chartered Bank hosted the award. This is the sixth time this agricultural award has been given. This year, the award has been given in a total of nine categories, including two new categories.

Pioneering agronomist Dr. Kazi M Badruddoza, the maker of 'Kazi Peyara', was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award on the occasion. Malta farmer Sakhawat Hossain, the best male farmer of the year, Shahida Begum, the onion farmer of Faridpur, and Ershad Mahmud, the hero of change, received the award.

In addition, Jury Special Professor Lutful Hasan, Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh Agricultural University and Kohinoor Kamal, an agri-entrepreneur from Chittagong, Best Agricultural Institution (Research, Innovation and Technology) Community 'Leaders'.

Agriculture Minister Abdur Razzak was the chief guest on the occasion. At that time, he said, farmers have contributed the most to the unimaginable success in agriculture in Bangladesh. They are the front line fighters. If educated meritorious people are involved in this agriculture, investment and innovation in agriculture will increase. Through them the development and production of agriculture will increase further.

Planning Minister MA Mannan was present as the special guest on the occasion. Also present were Nasser Ejaz Vijay, CEO of Standard Chartered Bank Bangladesh and Sheikh Siraj, Director and Media Personality of Channel I.

The Agriculture Minister further said that everyone should come forward to give such awards. Today 10 individuals and organizations have been awarded. But through this, millions of farmers, cultivators and entrepreneurs of the country will be motivated in agriculture.

According to the organizers, the jury board has finally selected the mentioned individuals and organizations after selecting from among hundreds of applications. A total of Tk 24 lakh checks, crests and certificates were distributed among the winners as prizes and honors.
