Cyclone Sitrang 115-year-old woman dies as tree fell on her house during Cyclone Sitrang
Own Correspondent, Dhaka, Oct 25: An old woman was killed when a tree fell on her house in Barguna due to the impact of Cyclone Sitrang.
The incident took place on Monday (October 24) at around 8 pm. The name of the deceased woman is Amena Khatun. She was a resident of Sonakhali village of Barguna Sadar Upazila. The district administration has assured financial assistance to her family.
According to family sources, stormy winds started blowing around 8 pm. In this, a tree next to the woman's house was uprooted and it fell directly on her house. At that time, 115-year-old Amena Khatun died on the spot. However, no one else in the family was harmed.
Barguna Deputy Commissioner Habibur Rahman said, "I have visited the scene. Janaza of the deceased will be held at 9 am on Tuesday. The family of the deceased will be given financial assistance by the district administration."
