Dhaka, Dec 12: Hundred and fifty-two platoon BGB members and 422 patrolling parties of RAB have been deployed across the country to control the law and order situation on the first day of the 11th phase of blockade called by BNP and like-minded opposition political parties.

BGB Public Relations Officer Md. Shariful Islam confirmed the deployment of BGB on Tuesday (December 12) morning.

He said that 152 platoons of BGB have been deployed across the country, including 18 platoons in Dhaka and surrounding districts, to control the law and order situation.

Meanwhile, 130 patrol teams of RAB forces are deployed in the capital to maintain law and order situation and 422 toil teams are deployed across the country. RAB's Law and Media Branch Director Commander Khandaker Al Moin confirmed this information.

According to RAB, in order to provide security for passenger and goods transport, long-distance public transport and cargo transport in different parts of the country are escorted by RAB patrols to deliver them safely to their destinations. Apart from this, RAB detectives have continued surveillance under cover in important places including bus stand, railway station to prevent any sabotage and violence.

The opposition party BNP has been holding programs for more than a year demanding the downfall of the current government and elections under a non-partisan government. The party's general meeting in Dhaka was called off on October 28 due to the attack and clashes. Since then, the party returned to the strike-blockade. The 11th phase of BNP's blockade has started today. This time the opposition parties have called a 36-hour blockade.

BNP leaders and workers were not very active in the field during the strike-blockade. As most of the leaders are in hiding and some of the top leaders are in jail, party spokesperson Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has been announcing the programme from an unknown location. On the day of the programme, he was seen marching along with a few activists.
