Dhaka, March 26: Top leaders of the ruling Awami League-led 14-party alliance have called on visiting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They met Modi in the lobby of Hotel Sonargaon on Friday (March 26) after 2pm. 

Led by alliance coordinator and spokesperson Amir Hossain Amur, the party included veteran Awami League leader Tofail Ahmed, Workers Party president Rashed Khan Menon, general secretary Fazle Hossain Badshah, Jasad unit president Hasanul Haque Inu, general secretary Shirin Akhter and another Jasad president Sharif Nurul Ambia. Tarikat Federation President Najibul Bashar Maizbhandari and other top leaders.

Earlier, Modi's Modi arrived in Dhaka on a two-day visit at 10:30 am. His visit is to attend the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of Bangladesh's independence.

In the morning, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina received Modi at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. He was given a red carpet reception and a guard of honor. From there, the Prime Minister of India went by helicopter to the National Memorial to pay homage to the heroic martyrs of the great war of liberation.

In the afternoon, Narendra Modi will be present as the guest of honor at the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of Bangladesh's independence at the National Parade Ground.

In the evening, Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the 'Bangabandhu-Bapu Museum' jointly with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center. The Prime Minister of India will also attend a state banquet hosted by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in her honor.

On Saturday, the Indian Prime Minister will visit Bangabandhu's tomb at Tungipara in Gopalganj and Shridham Orakandi Thakurbari, a pilgrimage site for the Matua community in Kashiani upazila. Modi will also visit a Hindu temple in Satkhira on the same day.
