Dhaka, November 12: At least 34 pirates have surrendered in Chittagong. They handed over their arms to Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal at 12:30 pm on Thursday (November 12) at the Banshkhali Adarsh High School ground in Chittagong. At the time of surrender, they deposited 90 used domestic and foreign weapons and 2,056 rounds of ammunition.

Apart from murder and rape cases, various ongoing cases against these pirates will be withdrawn in the legal process, RAB said. At this time, the pirates apologized for their past actions and expressed their determination to return to a healthy and normal life.

According to the RAB, it will provide all possible assistance to those who have surrendered to return to normal life. The RAB will continue its campaign to bring those who have not yet surrendered under the law.

In the last few years, the pirates have become frustrated due to the continuous operations of the law enforcement agencies.

Unable to survive, they began to choose the path of surrender.

Since 2004, RAB has conducted raids in different areas of Chittagong and Cox's Bazar and arrested 248 pirates. At least 797 firearms and 8842 rounds of ammunition were recovered from them. In 2016, 43 pirates surrendered to the RAB.
