5 killed, 12 injured in separate road accidents in Chittagong

Dhaka, June 19: Five people, including women and children, were killed in separate road accidents in Chittagong. Three people were killed when a bus crushed pedestrians in Patenga. On the other hand, two people were killed in a collision between two buses at Shikalbaha under Karnafuli police station. A dozen people were injured in these accidents. Two accidents occurred on Friday (June 18) at 12 noon and 3:30 pm.

ASI Shilabroto Barua of Chittagong Medical College Hospital police outpost said 10 people injured in a collision between two buses at Shikalbaha around 3:30 pm were brought to the hospital. Two people were reported dead at the scene. The death toll is expected to rise.

According to eyewitnesses, a passenger minibus collided with a passenger BRTC bus. Fire service, police and locals rescued the victims.

Meanwhile, EPZ Police Station OC Utpal Barua said three people, including a woman and a child, were killed when a fleeing bus hit a pedestrian on the side of the road in the Steel Mill area under Patenga's EPZ Police Station. Locals arrested the bus driver and his assistant and handed them over to the police. The bus was seized.
