A new market will be built in Bangabazar according to the plan: Mayor Taposh

Mayor said, "We will sit with them (businessmen of Bangabazar). We will know how they want. We will also show the design of the building to the Prime Minister. It is a wholesale market. We will build it as a wholesale market. Those who are really affected, they will be given priority in the new building. They will be rehabilitated first."

Pointing out that there was a plan to build a multi-storey building in Bangabazar, but it could not be done due to the lawsuit, Sheikh Tapos said, "We had a plan to build a multi-storey building there. Due to the lawsuit, it was not implemented. The small investors are now in a crisis. We need to give some time. They will determine the humanitarian aspect so that can turn around again, we will ensure that by donating them. Then we will sit with them to come up with a new plan so that they can conduct business there properly. After confirming that, we will plan to construct the building."

Asked whether the fire was some kind of planned vandalism, the mayor said, so far, it appears to be an accident. Yet from where it started and how it started will come out only on investigation.

Moreover, the affected traders will be given financial assistance from Dhaka South City Corporation's (DSCC) own funds, Mayor Taposh said. The mayor made the announcement when the leaders of the affected markets went to meet at the mayor's office in Nagar Bhavan on Wednesday.

Mayor Sheikh Tapas said, "Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will give sufficient grants so that the small traders affected by this fire can turn around again. Besides, we will also give grants to the affected traders according to our capacity. For that, you should coordinate with the investigation committee that we have formed next Saturday."
