Dhaka, June 19: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the Agargaon to Motijheel section of the metro rail next October.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said this at a branding seminar on the launch of MRT Line Six of Metrorail from Agargaon to Motijheel at Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital on Sunday.

Obaidul Quader said, "The prime minister will inaugurate the Agargaon to Motijheel section of MRT-6 next October. In the meantime we have progressed in the overall work of Metrorail. Besides, the Metrorail Police has been formed."

Referring to Metrorail as our nation's asset, the Road Transport and Bridges Minister said, we all have a responsibility to protect it. Even if fined, the beauty of metro rail should be preserved.

Law and order issue should be looked into in Metrorail. Emphasizing on the environmental development of Dhaka city, he said, garbage cannot be thrown everywhere, cigarettes cannot be smoked everywhere. The spot should be fixed. Brick kilns around Dhaka should be closed. We have to do them for the sake of our existence.

Later, Obaidul Quader told reporters about the question of fair elections under the government of opposition parties including BNP, BNP talks so much. Do the BNP leaders know that many of their party are preparing for the elections. Many parties are ready to participate in the elections. They are living in a fool's paradise when they think that others will boycott BNP because they will not participate.

In response to the question that voters are less interested in the local government elections, he said that the national elections are not far away. In the recent city elections, 50% votes were cast in Gazipur, 40-45% in Barisal and Khulna. So how do you say less? In many developed countries of the world, even 30% of voters do not turn out. There is no point in saying these things now.

American President Joe Biden- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi meeting whether Bangladesh is looking forward to? In response to such a question, Obaidul Quader said, we are not looking at anyone. We are looking at the people of Bangladesh. Foreign powers can be friends but cannot win elections. They can be development partners. I don't think so strangely that it will put me in power.
