Ansar member arrested for threatening to leak and spread UNO's offensive video

Dhaka, March 16: Ansar member Akash Biswas (27) engaged in the security of Lohagara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Animesh Biswas has been arrested by the police.

He was arrested after a case for extorting money by threatening to spread offensive videos of UNO. Arrested Akash Biswas son of deceased Nihar Biswas of Rangpur village of Dumuria upazila in Khulna. He was in charge of UNO's security for two years. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Lohagarh Police Station Kanchan Kumar Roy said this on Friday.

According to the statement of the case, on February 17, an unknown person called Lohagara Upazila Nirbahi Officer Animesh Biswas on his mobile phone and said, 'You have an obscene video, if you pay 10 lakhs, the video will be deleted.'

The video was circulated on social media and threats were made to kill and injure UNO if the money was not paid. UNO's wife was also threatened with these words on her mobile phone.

UNO's wife gave Tk 10 lakh to his bank account in stages for the safety of her husband's honor and life. UNO's wife is suspicious of Akash, an Ansar member who is engaged in security while sending money. She then filed a case against Akash on March 12 at Lohagarh police station. The OC said that an Ansar member engaged in the security of UNO has been arrested based on the source of that case.

The OC of Lohagara Police Station added, "Akash was arrested on Wednesday after a case was filed for his involvement in the extortion case by threatening the Lohagara Upazila Nirbahi Officer. Later, he was sent to jail through the court. The operation to catch other members of the extortion gang is continuing."
