Around 14 lakh candidates to sit for HSC examination

Dhaka, November 18: The HSC and equivalent examinations of 2021 will start on December 2, which will witness the participation of 13,94,629 students. Although 15,58,000 students have registered for HSC and equivalent exams, it has been reported that more than one and a half lakh students are not taking part in the examination as they have not filled the form.

According to reports from various education boards, this time 11,32,981 candidates have filled the forms under nine general education boards.

Among them 3,14,704 students under Dhaka Education Board, 1,50,704 students in Rajshahi Board, 1,17,309 students in Comilla Board, 68,441 students in Barisal Board, 62,792 students in Sylhet Board, 1,15,794 students in Dinajpur Board and 70,925 candidates filled up the forms under the Mymensingh Board of Education.

Apart from this, 1,13,144 candidates have filled up the forms under Madrasa Education Board and 1,48,504 candidates under Technical Education Board. In all, a total of 13,94,629 candidates filled the form across the country.

Although a total of 15,85,000 students have registered for HSC and equivalent examinations under 11 education boards of the country, 1,63,371 of them are not taking part in the examinations. As a result, 11.71 percent students have dropped out of higher secondary level.

Professor Nehal Ahmed, coordinator of the Inter-Education Board, said on Wednesday that all preparations for the HSC examination were in the final stages. Question papers have been sent to the government treasury in all the districts of the country. The list of test centers has already been published. A meeting has been called at the Ministry of Education on Thursday to discuss the steps to be taken to ensure the safety of HSC exams. Education Minister Dipu Moni is expected to be present there.
