Bangabazar fire: Victims rush for help

Dhaka, April 6: Dhaka district administration has set up an information and support center to prepare a list of businessmen affected by the fire in Bangabazar. On Wednesday afternoon, the administration set up a temporary information and support center in front of Annexco Tower next to Bangamarket. Meanwhile, hundreds of victims were seen standing in line to write their names on the list with the shop's visiting card, cash memo and NID card in hand.

A businessman named Ariful Islam was standing with the cash memo of the shop in his hand. He said, I heard that you can get help if you write your name here. So I came to register.

Dhaka District Administration Assistant Commissioner Executive Magistrate Sayem Imran said, initially, the district administration is preparing a list of affected businessmen. A businessman can register his business name at the Information and Support Center. He said, if NID, trade license, debit-credit card is lost or burnt in fire, GDO can be done at the information center.

On the other hand, a case has been filed against 250 to 300 unidentified people for attacking and obstructing the police during the fire fighting in Bangabazar.

The police filed the case as the plaintiff at Bangshal police station in the capital on Thursday. Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Lalbagh Division Deputy Commissioner (DC) Zafar Hossain confirmed this information. He said that after the terrible fire in Bangabazar, the fire service headquarters and members were attacked during fire fighting. When the police tried to stop them, they were also attacked.

A case has been filed accusing 250 to 300 unidentified people of attacking the police and obstructing government work on the day of the fire. Those involved in the attack will be identified and legal action will be taken.
