Bangladesh celebrates Saraswati Puja

Dhaka, Feb 14: Saraswati Puja, one of the religious festivals of the Hindu community, is being observed today (Wednesday, Feb 14).

Countless devotees will lay wreaths at the feet of Goddess Saraswati, the presiding deity of knowledge and wisdom, on the fifth day of this religious festival.

They will bow at the feet of the benevolent goddess to remove the darkness of ignorance.

According to the followers of traditional religions, Goddess Saraswati is the symbol of truth, justice and enlightenment. Possessor of knowledge, words and melody.

According to religious rules, Saraswati, the goddess of learning and music, came to earth on a white swan.

The followers of traditional religions will chant this mantra and worship Goddess Saraswati to acquire knowledge and wisdom.

President Md. Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave separate messages of sincere greetings and congratulations to all members of the Hindu community on the occasion of Saraswati Puja.

On the occasion of Saraswati Puja, the Hindu community will organize various religious ceremonies including Bani Archana today (Wednesday, Feb 14).

There are programmes in temples across the country, including the capital Dhaka, include wreath-laying, prasad distribution, religious discussion meetings, cultural programs, evening arti, lighting etc.
