Dhaka, 15 January 2023 : Metrorail has become an entertainment center like Hatirjheel and Zoo in the capital.

On other days of the week, the number of passengers is less, but Fridays and Saturdays are overcrowded. People stand in long queues and travel in Metrorail with tickets.

A long queue of passengers was seen at Agargaon Metrorail station on Friday (January 13). Lines of passengers from the station can be seen extending beyond the air museum.

Most of the people traveling by Metrorail are traveling with their families. None of the long queues were found to have boarded the Metrorail for private work. Kabir Hossain has come to ride the metro rail from Shanir Akhra of the capital. He brought his wife Shantana Hossain, son Shamim Hossain and daughter Tanya Hossain with him. He works in a private company.

Kabir Hossain said, as it was a weekend, I came to travel by metro rail with my family. I came last Friday and today. Everyone is enjoying riding the metro as it is newly launched.

Meanwhile, Agargaon station was crowded on Saturday (January 14) as well as on Friday. On this day, the main gate of the station was closed before the scheduled time to handle the pressure of passengers. The gate was supposed to be closed at 12 noon but it was closed 15 minutes earlier. Expressing anger at this, some of the passengers got into an argument with the law enforcement officers. Meanwhile, the policemen on duty at the gate said that many passengers were waiting inside the metro rail station. For this reason, the gate has been closed in advance to handle the pressure.

On weekend Friday and Saturday mornings, commuters thronged the metro rail station gates ignoring the cold. The pressure of passengers is a bit higher compared to the past few days. Passengers had to suffer a lot while buying tickets on this day. Occasionally, the electronic ticketing machine stops working. As a result, passengers have to stand in line for a long time.

On the second day of the first phase of Vishwa Ijtema, pilgrims continued to throng the Turag banks on Saturday. After the Fajr prayer, the speech starts in the Ijtema field. Ijtema has also affected the metro rail. Many are going from Agargaon to Turaga via the third phase of Uttara by metro rail.
