Bangladesh Bangladesh has capability to keep law and order situation under control: US report
Dhaka, February 28: A recent report published by the United States Department of State has mentioned that Bangladesh has the ability to control the law and order situation inside its country and across the border.
The report highlighted the capacity of Bangladesh to patrol land and maritime borders and recent improvements in the screening of passengers and cargo at airports with updated procedures, equipment, and increased staff.
The report mentioned that Bangladesh has initiated e-passports for all and the country shares information with Interpol.
However, there is no dedicated terrorist watchlist in the shared information, according to the report.
The US Department of State issued the 2021 Country Reports on Terrorism (CRT), providing a detailed look at the counterterrorism environment in that year.
The report states there were three significant terrorist incidents in Bangladesh in 2021 and all were handled by the country's law and order forces.
The report also noted that the country's police's Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CTTC) conducted 40 investigations and made 85 arrests in 2021.
