Dhaka, October 20: Today is the day of birth and death of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the holy Eid Miladunnabi (peace be upon him). Various programs have been taken to celebrate the day in an atmosphere of due religious dignity and solemnity all over the country including the capital Dhaka. Today is a public holiday. President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have given separate messages on the occasion of Holy Eid Miladunnabi.

In his message, President Md. Abdul Hamid said that the holy Eid Miladunnabi (PBUH) is a very holy and glorious day for the Muslims all over the world, commemorating the birth and death of the greatest and last Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Allah the Almighty sent Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him) as ‘Rahmatullah Alameen’ i.e. the mercy of the whole world. His arrival in the world took place in the form of ‘Sirajam Munira’ i.e. luminous lamp.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said in a message yesterday that the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) should be followed for all mankind in religious and worldly life. Following the noble ideals of the Prophet (peace be upon him) lies in the infinite welfare, success and peace of the Muslims. In today's conflict-ridden world, including the Corona epidemic, peace, justice and welfare of the world can be ensured only through the unique life style of the Prophet (peace be upon him), following his universal teachings and Sunnah and worship.

Since last evening, the devout worshipers on the occasion of the holy Eid Miladunnabi (peace be upon him) prayed for the special mercy of the Almighty in the mosques and in their homes by reciting the Qur'an and reciting Zikr.

On the occasion of the holy Eid Miladunnabi (PBUH), the Islamic Foundation will hold various programs throughout the year. Besides, all the departments, districts, upazilas and government and non-government organizations of the country have started holding special programs including party-wide discussion meetings and mahfils on the biography of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) since last evening.

On this occasion, Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar are broadcasting special programs highlighting the importance of the day.
