Eid Milad un Nabi Bangladesh to observe Eid Milad un Nabi on October 20
Dhaka, October 8: The moon of Rabiul Awal month was not seen in the sky of Bangladesh on Thursday evening. Therefore, the counting of Rabiul Awal month will start from tomorrow, Saturday (October 9). The holy Eid Milad un Nabi will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 20 (12 Rabiul Awal).
The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee on Thursday (October 7) evening at the meeting hall of the Islamic Foundation at Baitul Mukarram in the capital. It was chaired by the chairman of the committee and the state minister for religion Md. Faridul Haque Khan.
According to information received from all district administrations, head offices of Islamic Foundation, divisional and district offices, meteorological department, space research center and remote sensing institute, the moon of Rabiul Awal month of 1443 AH was not seen in the sky of Bangladesh on Thursday evening. Therefore, on Friday (October 8), the 30th day of the tour month is coming to an end. The counting of Rabiul Awal month will start from Saturday (October 9). Milad un Nabi (peace be upon him) will be celebrated on October 20 (12 Rabiul Awal).
The literal meaning of Arabic 'Eid Milad un Nabi’ is the celebration of the birthday of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Muslims observe 12 Rabiul Awal as the day of birth and death of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Because Rasulullah Kareem (peace be upon him) also died on this day. As such, next 30th October will be 12 Rabiul Awal. Eid Milad un Nabi (PBUH) is a public holiday in Bangladesh.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was born on the 12th of Rabiul Awwal in 570 AH in the Quraish dynasty of Makkah. He started preaching Islam, the religion of peace, in the deserts of Arabia.
His advent and the spread of Islam caused a stir all over the world. After preaching Islam for 23 long years, the Prophet (peace be upon him) died at the age of 63 on 12 Rabiul Awwal. The day is celebrated by the Muslims of the world as Eid Milad un Nabi.
Milad mahfils and discussion programs were organized in mosques and various religious institutions on the day of Eid Milad un Nabi.
