Bangladesh working to increase regional connectivity: Civil Aviation Minister

Dhaka, March 12: Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry Minister Muhammad Farooq Khan said that Bangladesh is working to increase regional connectivity. Because, Bangladesh attaches importance to increasing regional connectivity with its neighboring states.

The minister said this while meeting with Nepalese ambassador to Bangladesh Ghanshyam Bhandari at the secretariat on Monday.

The minister said that Syedpur airport is being developed as a regional aviation hub with the aim of increasing regional connectivity. Syedpur Airport will play an important role in the growth of communication and trade in the region.

He also said that Nepal has always been a good friend of Bangladesh. There are many opportunities to work together in tourism development between Bangladesh and Nepal. Bangladesh and Nepal can jointly take initiatives for the development of tourism industry. The regional circuit created between Bangladesh, Nepal, India and Bhutan needs to be fully operationalized for the expansion of tourism.

During the meeting, the Ambassador of Nepal said that tourism and aviation industry of Bangladesh has bright potential. The tourism industry will play an important role in strengthening the bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Nepal and people-to-people friendship.

Ambassador Ghanshyam Bhandari said Nepal has recently upgraded two airports outside Kathmandu to international standards at Pokhara and Bhairava. If direct flights are operated from Dhaka to these two new airports of Nepal, it will facilitate the communication of tourists from the two countries. Nepal is also interested in taking joint initiatives for the development of the tourism industry of the two countries.
