Dhaka, November 14: The Bangladesh Chhatra Kalyan Parishad has held a 'shackled' rally demanding four points including raising the age limit for joining government service to 35. The program was held at Shahbagh in the capital on Friday (November 13) afternoon. If the demands are not met within this month, they have announced a nationwide movement from next month.

Muzammel Miyaji, chief coordinator of the Student Welfare Council, said at the rally, "We have been campaigning non-violently for a long time to realize the four-point demand, including raising the age limit for employment and job application to 35 years. We are still on that path."

"Bangabandhu dreamed of building the country as a golden Bengal. He said that if the claim is fair and the number is one, then that claim will also be accepted. In order to build the developed and self-sufficient Bangladesh of the dream of the father of the nation, it is absolutely necessary to provide employment to all the citizens of the country."

He said, "It takes 25-30 years to complete higher education due to various complications including session congestion. We are being kept in a shackle as the age limit for joining government service has been raised to 30-32. That is why it is a logical demand to raise the age limit for applying for a job to 35."

In 162 developed and developing countries of the world, the age limit for applying for a job is 35 and if it is above, why not 35 in Bangladesh, the question was raised in the meeting.

Their demands include raising the age limit for job applications to 35 years, reducing job application fees, conducting recruitment tests at the district or divisional level, and formulating and implementing specific policies, including completing the recruitment process in 3 to 6 months.

The meeting was presided over by Muzammel Miaji, Chief Coordinator of Bangladesh General Student Welfare Council and conducted by Musaddek Ali, Central Coordinator.

Bangladesh General Student Rights Protection Council expressed solidarity at the rally.
