Dhaka, May 6: Benapole Custom House has launched a new software called Bangladesh Customs Office Management (bCom) to make import-export trade dynamic, prevent revenue evasion and bring transparency in customs. After 50 years of independence, Benapole became the only digital custom house in the country. The software is being used with the approval of the National Board of Revenue (NBR). On the one hand it is saving time, on the other hand it is possible to prevent revenue evasion.

According to Benapole Custom House sources, Customs, Ports and BGB used to jointly enter the cargo branch at Zero Point to collect information on import-export cargo trucks and goods. As a result, it took 30 minutes for a truck to enter the port. Currently, it takes only 5 minutes to use the barcode through the bCom software.

Every day 500 to 600 trucks of goods are imported from India through Benapole port. The location of these Indian trucks and the shed in which the goods are being unloaded is known at the moment through bCom.

Improving the risky products of importers and C&F agents is also possible. The exact location of import-export goods trucks is being determined from anywhere in the country. Besides, it is known at the moment that any officer can know all the information of arrears of revenue, bank guarantee, undertaking and C&F agent license at the same time.

Under the direction of Benapole Commissioner Azizur Rahman, Additional Commissioner Dr. Md. Neyamul Islam has made it possible to create bCom software in this first custom house in Bangladesh. This makes it possible to quickly detect hazardous chemical products and ensure the location of confiscated goods stored in port warehouses. This is a very secure software as it is not possible to falsify the chemical test results of the product.

Neyamul Islam said, "Studying in the United States for a long time has given me the opportunity to use digital methods. I started my journey with the team members in my own innovation at low cost at the expense of conscience and without having to rely on development partners. The other members of the committee are Deputy Commissioner SM Shamimur Rahman, Assistant Commissioner HM Ahsanul Kabir, Programmer Akhtaruzzaman, Assistant Programmer Nazmul Islam and Revenue Officer SM Rabiuzzaman.
