BNP BNP leader Amir Khasru arrested
Dhaka, Nov 3: BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has been arrested.
He was arrested by the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective (DB) police from his house on Gulshan Road No. 81 at around 1:15 am on Thursday. Amir Khasru's son Israfil Khasru confirmed the arrest. DB chief Mohammad Haroon Or Rasheed also confirmed the arrest. However, he did not say in which case he was arrested.
According to DB sources, DB surrounded his house in Gulshan on Thursday night to arrest Khosru in the case of sabotage. Then he was brought from inside.
Earlier, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DB) arrested BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas and Joint Secretary General Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal in a raid at Shahid Bagh in the capital on Tuesday, October 31. Earlier, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was arrested by the police from his home in Gulshan on Sunday, October 29. On that day, BNP held morning-evening hartal across the country to realize the one-sided demand of the fall of the government.
The court denied bail to BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in a case filed at Ramna police station of the capital on the charge of vandalizing the residence of the Chief Justice. That evening, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, the party's senior joint general secretary, called for a three-day strike in an online message from an undisclosed location.
