BNP BNP leaders Mirza Abbas and Alal arrested
Dhaka, Nov 1: BNP Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas and Joint Secretary General Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal have been arrested by Dhaka Metropolitan Detective (DB) Police. They were arrested in a raid at Shahid Bagh in the capital on Tuesday night.
Confirming the arrest of the two, Additional Commissioner (DB) Mohammad Haroon Or Rashid said that Mirza Abbas and Moazzem Hossain Alal are the accused in several cases filed in the name of violence and sabotage in the name of Mahasambesh on October 28. They were arrested and taken into DB custody. They will be produced in court on Wednesday.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was arrested by the police from his home in Gulshan on Sunday morning. On that day, BNP held morning-evening hartal across the country to realize the one-sided demand of the fall of the government.
In the evening of this day, senior joint general secretary of the party Ruhul Kabir Rizvi called for three consecutive days of blockade in an online message from an unknown place. He said total blockade will be observed on highways, railways and waterways on October 31 and November 1 and 2.
On July 28, they held a mass meeting in Dhaka. The next day, the programme was held at the entrances of Dhaka. Recently on October 28 same-minded parties including BNP called for mass gatherings in nine places including Naya Paltan.
