Dhaka, September 14: The CNG filling station will be closed for six hours daily from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm to increase gas supply to the power plant.

This decision will be effective from September 15. Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Mir Mohammad Aslam Uddin said.

"CNG stations will be closed every day from 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm. The decision will remain in effect from September 15 until further notice," he said.

The public relations officer also said that the government has taken this decision to increase the gas supply to the power plant.

A letter has been sent to the chairman of Petrobangla from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division instructing them to take steps to publish the issue of closure of CNG stations in the daily peak-hour.

The letter said that the decision was taken in the presence of the Prime Minister's Adviser on Power, Energy and Mineral Resources on July 19 regarding the formulation of short, medium and long term supply and demand of gas for gas-based power plants. CNG stations will have to be kept closed during peak hours.

In the light of this decision, the letter instructed the chairman of Petrobangla to take necessary steps to keep the CNG station closed during the daily peak hour (from 5 pm to 11 pm) and to publish the matter in at least three dailies.
