The Bangladesh Oil, Gas and Mineral Resources Corporation (Petrobangla) said in a statement that the directive would be implemented from Tuesday (March 1). It was decided to close the CNG station at this time to increase the supply of gas for power generation.

The vigilance team of the gas distribution company will monitor the implementation of this decision. Action will be taken against CNG stations violating the decision as per Bangladesh Gas Act, 2010.

According to the notification, the government has decided to cut off gas supply to all CNG stations in the country during peak hours of power generation, i.e. from 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm.

Meanwhile, Petrobangla has apologized for the temporary inconvenience. On September 15 last year, it was decided to close the CNG station for four hours from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. This time it was increased by one hour to five hours.
