Dhaka, November 28: The traditional Ras Utsav will take place from November 28 to November 30. The holy bath of Hindus will be held at Alorkole of Dublar Char under the Sharankhola Range of the Sundarbans.

Thousands of Hindu pilgrims are expected to gather like every year.

On this occasion, the Bangladesh Coast Guard has been instructed to monitor the security of forest resources and wildlife in the Sundarbans as well as the safety of the lives and property of the pilgrims.

In view of this, the Coast Guard and the Forest Department have jointly searched all the boats of the 5 routes approved by the Forest Department for traveling to Dublar Char before the festival.

The Coast Guard will continue its special patrol for a period of time to ensure that these vessels do not prey on wildlife and cut down trees illegally in the Sundarbans.

Arrangements will be made for the entry of all the benefactors after conducting a joint search with other law enforcement agencies at the entrance of Alorkol area in Dublar Char.

At the same time, a diver and a medical team will be on full-time patrol in the area under the supervision of Bangladesh Coast Guard ship Swadhin Bangla.

Captain M Habib-ul-Alam, Zonal Commander, Coast Guard West Zone, said that maximum security measures would be taken by the Coast Guard in coordination with RAB, Forest Department, Naval Police and other law enforcement agencies for the celebration of Ras Purnima.
