Dhaka, February 2: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has severely criticized the "wise men" who are plotting behind to bring an unelected government in the country.

She said, "There are many scholars and scientists in our country. I heard from them that if an unelected government comes for two to four years, then the Mahabharata will not become impure. You must understand who said these things. You have seen the unelected government. He tried to make parties by taking barks here and there, misrepresented political leaders and tried to commit misdeeds."

Sheikh Hasina said, "Mahabharat will not be impure, our constitution will be impure. Our freedom in exchange for the blood of lakhs of martyrs and the constitution given by Bangabandhu, it will be impure if an unelected government comes."

The prime minister said these things at the opening ceremony of the Amar Ekushey Book Fair at the Bangla Academy premises on Wednesday. He attended the inauguration ceremony at 3 pm that day.

Mentioning the fun of flipping books even in the era of modern technology, the Prime Minister said, "Now is the digital age. We can digitize language and literature. Books should be made into digital versions. Audio versions can also be made. Every literary work can be listened to back and forth if it is made into audio version. , can be read. That's how we should go with modern technology. Although the fun of flipping books is different."

She said, "We have benefited the most from the opportunity of digital Bangladesh in dealing with the corona pandemic. Even though everything is closed, we have been able to connect with the whole country through video conference. We have been able to keep everything normal."

Bangla Academy president writer Selina Hossain presided over the opening ceremony of the book fair. Minister of State for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid, Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs Abul Mansoor, President of Book Publishers Association Arifur Rahman Choton, Director General of Bangla Academy Muhammad Nurul Huda spoke at the opening ceremony.

Cabinet members, vice-chancellors of various universities, high-ranking government officials and book lovers were present on the occasion. Rupa Chakraborty and Shahadat Hossain Nipu conducted the inauguration ceremony.
