Dhaka, November 3: Today is November 3, Jail Killing Day. This day is the second scandalous chapter after the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family on 15th August, 1975. Less than three months after the brutal assassination on August 15, one of the heroic fighters of the liberation war and four national leaders Syed Nazrul Islam, Tajuddin Ahmed, AHM Kamaruzzaman and Captain Mansur Ali were brutally killed inside the Dhaka Central Jail on this day. Earlier, the four national leaders were sent to the central jail on August 15.

The nation today will remember this barbaric black chapter in the history of the country by paying due respect to one of the heroic fighters of the liberation war and four national leaders. This mournful day will be celebrated all over the country in compliance with the health rules at the initiative of various parties and organizations including Awami League.

The Awami League's program includes hoisting national and party flags at half-mast, hoisting black flags and holding black badges at party buildings across the country, including Bangabandhu Bhaban and the party's central office. Wreath laying at the portrait of Bangabandhu at Bangabandhu Bhaban premises in Dhanmondi at 8:30 am. Wreath-laying, Fateha recitation, Milad mahfil and munajat will be held at the graves of four national leaders at Banani Cemetery at 9:00 am.

Similarly, wreath laying, Fateha recitation, Milad mahfil and munajat will be held at the grave of national leader Kamaruzzaman in Rajshahi. A discussion meeting will be held at 11:00 am on the occasion of Jail Killing Day at the central office of 23 Bangabandhu Avenue at the initiative of Awami League.

Known as the most hated traitor member of Bangabandhu's cabinet and the then self-proclaimed President Khandaker Mushtaq Ahmed and Bangabandhu's two assassins, Colonel (retd) Syed Faruk Rahman and Lt. Colonel (retd) Khandaker Abdur Rashid, plotted to assassinate four national leaders in jail. For this work they also formed a deadly team in the earlier part. The leader of this group was Risaldar Moslehuddin. He was Farooq's most trusted officer. Moslehuddin led the group that carried out the massacre at Sheikh Moni's residence on 15 August.
