Covid-19: Country registers 212 more deaths, 13,862 new cases within 24 hours

Dhaka, July 30: Another 212 people have succumbed to the deadly coronavirus in the last 24 hours across the country, while 13,862 more people tested Covid-19 positive.

With it, the national death toll and caseload swelled to 20,467 and 12,40,115 respectively.

Among the recent receased were 119 men and 93 women. Nine died at their home, 48 at private hospital and 154 at government hospital. One person was brought dead, a press release from the Directorate General of Health Services said.

Dhaka, like usual reported the highest number of deaths among the eight divisions- 65, followed by Chittagong with 53 deceased. Khulna registered 36 deaths, while Sylhet division reported 17 deaths, Rajshahi 13, Barisal 11, Rangpur nine and Mymensingh eight deaths.

The release said 45,568 samples were collected and 45,044 samples were tested across 648 labs in the last 24 hours. The daily positivity rate was 30.77 percent. A total of 77,09,914 samples have been tested till date in Bangladesh, for a total positivity rate of 16.08 percent.

Meanwhile, another 13,975 patients recovered from Covid-19 across the country in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 10,64,195.

The country's mortality rate stands at 1.65 percent.
