Dhaka, February 7: The two daughters of Imran Sharif, a US citizen of Bangladeshi descent, and Dr Erico Nakano, a Japanese national, will stay with the latter, their mother, for a week more, the court ruled following a hearing.

The court has fixed February 13 for the order. While the two children will stay with their mother till February 13, every day between 9:00 am and 9:00 pm, their father Imran Sharif can meet them anytime.

The matter was heard on Monday (February 7) in a virtual bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Hasan Fayez Siddiqui. Senior lawyer Barrister Ajmalul Hossain QC appeared in court today on behalf of the Japanese mother.

Earlier, the matter was scheduled to be heard on Sunday (February 6) in a virtual same bench of the Appellate Division headed by the Chief Justice. But due to the death of Justice Nazmul Ahasan, who was appointed to the Appellate Division, the proceedings of both the divisions of the Supreme Court (Appellate and High Court) in his honor were closed yesterday. However, the matter was heard again today as the court proceedings started as per the schedule on Sunday.

Last Wednesday (February 2), a regular appeal (CP) was made on behalf of the mother to take the two children to her mother. On the same day, Advocate Mohammad Shishir Monir said, "We have received the full verdict of the High Court. I have filed a regular appeal (CP) attaching the verdict. Therefore, the court of the Appellate Division will give the final decision in this case."
