Dhaka bus fire: 32 arrested in 14 cases

Dhaka, November 15: Thirty-two people have been arrested in 14 cases of arson in different parts of the capital on Thursday. Of these, 28 are in police custody. Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Media and Public Relations of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Md. Walid Hossain said this.

He said six people from Shahbagh police station, 10 from Paltan police station, two from Bangshal police station, two from Kalabagan police station, one from Turag, nine from Uttara and two from Motijheel police station have been arrested in connection with the arson. In addition, several teams of police have continued their operation to arrest the other fugitive accused.

Police official Walid said 14 cases were filed in nine police stations in connection with the arson attack on buses at nine places in the capital. Police have so far arrested 32 people in raids. He said the culprits were being identified by looking at the video footage.

It may be mentioned that on Thursday (November 12) at 12:05 pm, a fire broke out in a government vehicle parked in the tax zone-15 on the north side of the BNP party office under Paltan police station.

At 2.45 pm, Jainpuri Paribahan was set on fire at Parkling under Paltan Police Station, a two-storey BRTC bus near Pubali Petrol Pump under Motijheel Police Station was set on fire at 3 pm and Victor Classic Paribahan was also set on fire at Coca-Cola intersection under Bhatara Police Station.
