Dhaka, 19 February 2023 : Uttara Center station was added to the list of Metrorail stations to be opened continuously as per the pre-scheduled announcement on Saturday (February 18).

The train leaving Diabari at 8:30 in the morning takes a break at Uttara Center i.e. station number two. Passengers can now travel by metro rail from here. Metrorail passengers are being transported to a total of four stations including Uttara Center station.

Meanwhile, with the opening of this station, the fortunes of the residents of the Rajuk Uttara Apartment project built in the third phase of Uttara in Diabari have opened up. The cost of the project is 9 thousand 30 crores. Six thousand 636 flats have been built. Residents of this flat can go to Uttara Center station by walking only 10 minutes.

Rajuk Uttara Apartment Project Director Mohammad Mozaffar Uddin told Jago News that the housing project was taken up in Uttara Sector 18 as per Metrorail's plan. Metrorail will connect housing residents to the main city. Because the railway station can be easily reached by walking from the residential area. Flat allotment is in final stage.

He further said that with the opening of Uttara Center Station, the fortunes of all the residents of the project have opened up. Because it will take only 10 minutes to go from this project area to Uttara Center station, that too by walking. A boon for accommodation on Metrorail. But currently 16 thousand people of 4 thousand families are living there. Many businessmen are also living in this area.

DMTCL disclosed the information last Thursday (February 9). There are a total of 9 stations on the 11.73 km route from Uttara Uttar station to Agargaon. At present three stations are functioning at Agargaon, Pallavi and Uttara North Station. With the opening of the Uttara Center station, four stations were opened. Thereafter Uttara South, Mirpur-11, Kazipara and Sheorapara stations will be opened for general passengers.

The construction of the country's first metro rail in Uttara was started six and a half years ago with the aim of avoiding traffic congestion in Dhaka city. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Metrorail on December 28 last year. The next day, Metrorail began commercial operations from December 29. Since then Metrorail is running daily direct from Uttara North (Diabari) to Agargaon.
