Fuel Price Diesel price slashed by 75 paise per lt, petrol price drops by Tk 3, octane down by Tk 4
Dhaka, March 8: In line with the international market in the new automatic system, the government has issued a notification reducing the price of all types of fuel oil from 75 paisa to Tk 4 per liter in the country's market. The new prices came into effect from Thursday night.
The new prices of diesel, kerosene, petrol and octane are effective from 12 midnight on Thursday. For the first time, the price of fuel oil has been reduced in the country's market due to the announcement of automatic price fixing.
According to the new prices, the government has reduced the price of diesel and kerosene from Tk 109 to Tk 108.26 per liter, octane to Tk 126 from Tk 130 and petrol from Tk 125 to Tk 122. In this case, per liter of diesel and kerosene has decreased by 75 paise, octane by Tl 4 and petrol by Tk 3.
Earlier, from August 30, 2022, the government had reduced the price of all types of fuel oil by Tk 5 per liter in the country's market.
On February 29, the Energy Department published the guidelines by determining the formula for automatic price determination of fuel oil.
According to this guideline, the price of fuel oil will be adjusted in the domestic market every month in accordance with the international market. According to the Ministry of Electricity, Energy and Mineral Resources, according to the formula or guidelines, the sale price will be adjusted at the consumer level every month in light of the import or purchase price of fuel oil.
Although the price of fuel oil has been adjusted in the country, diesel is currently selling at Rs 92.76 or Tk 133.57 per liter (Rs 1= Tk 1.44) and petrol is being sold at Rs 106.03 or Tk 152.68 per liter in Kolkata, India. The ministry said that in Kolkata, the price of diesel per liter is about Tk 24.57 and petrol price is Tk 27.68 more than Bangladesh.
