Dhaka, Feb 6: Nobel laureate economist Dr. Muhammad Yunus, chairman of Gramin Telecom, who was acquitted of the sentence in the case of violation of labour laws, must take permission from the court to travel abroad. The remaining three accused in this case will also have to comply with the same order in respect of foreign travel.

The High Court bench consisting of Justice Md. Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Kazi Ibadat Hossain gave this order after hearing on the revision of the matter.

At the same time, the court issued a ruling asking why the order given by the Labor Appeal Tribunal should not be canceled by suspending the sentence of four people including Dr. Yunus.

On this day, the High Court gave this order after hearing the application made by the Department of Inspection of Factories and Institutions against the order given by the Labour Appellate Tribunal suspending the proceedings of Dr. Yunus' sentence of six months imprisonment without labour.

Earlier on Sunday, the Department of Inspection of Factories and Institutions appealed to the High Court against the order given by the Labor Appellate Tribunal suspending the sentence of four persons including Dr. Yunus in this case of violation of labor law. In that application, it was also requested that Dr. Yunus should not go abroad without the permission of the court.

Judge Begum Sheikh Marina Sultana of Dhaka Labor Court-3 sentenced four people including Dr. Yunus to six months imprisonment without labour and fined Tk 30,000 each in the case of violation of labor law.
